The 2015 “Boston Flower & Garden Show” takes place at The Seaport World Trade Center in Boston from Wednesday, March 11 through Sunday, March 15. This year’s theme is “Season of Enchantment.”
A festive Gala Preview Party was held on Tuesday evening, March 10, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with proceeds benefiting The Genesis Foundation for Children.
It’s a chance for guests to see one of the most anticipated events in Boston before it opens to the public, when all the blooms are at their brightest and most fragrant.
Mix 104.1 hosts Karson & Kennedy were there emceeing the event as guests enjoyed refreshments, entertainment, crafts at the floral jewelry bar, and a leisurely stroll through the gardens.
The show’s producer, Paragon Group, has announced that inspired by the feedback from past exhibitors and visitors, this year the horticultural experience will be made even more dramatic by situating the gardens differently.
Instead of the gardens running from the front of the hall to the back with retail vendors as the backdrop along both sides, the gardens will be located across the full front of the hall, from left to right (from the Lecture Hall to the Demo Stage, if that helps to picture it better for those who have attended in the past). Tall drapes will separate the Gardens area from the Garden Marketplace. This will allow the lighting team to achieve a more theatrical result for the look of the gardens.
Gardens will be set up in a pattern that lends itself to an easy “Figure Eight” path that visitors are welcome to follow or stray from, as their interests take them around the space.
There will be nine entrances and exits into the festive Garden Marketplace along the perimeter of the Garden Area, including one that will be built right into a garden in the form of an arbor you walk through to pass into the next section of the show.
And the horticulture won’t stop in the Garden Area. A new attraction, “The Plant Promenade,” will run the length of the extra-wide center aisle of the Marketplace, featuring not only the show’s plant and seed vendor booths, but also a display of seven charming and inspiring Container Garden Vignettes by horticultural organizations including garden clubs, non-profits and botanic sites.
The vignettes will lead the way to the splendor of the Plant Society and Garden Club displays, those wonderful groupings of specialty plant families and collections coordinated by the Massachusetts Horticultural Society as the stars of its Amateur Horticulture Divisions.
